Hollywood Movies Which Was Shot in India: Exotic locations across the world and the ethereal feel and look over there have always been the first choice of filmmakers in Bollywood.
You may have seen the beautiful saree-clad heroines romancing their men in the snow-capped mountains of Himalayas and Switzerland in many films.
As we just have focused on overseas, it seems that Hollywood found that taste in India.

Hollywood Movies Which Was Shot in India
1. Eat, Pray, Love
The film mainly revolves around three places – India, Italy and Indonesia. Starring Julia Roberts, “Eat, Pray, Love” was shot in and across Pataudi and Delhi.
The rights for making the movie were bought from Columbia Pictures. The movie version, starring Javier Bardem and Julia Roberts, was released on August 13, 2010.
2. The Darjeeling Limited
It was a comic drama which is based on the spiritual self-discovery of three brothers when they reunite in Darjeeling on a train.
This masterpiece is surely worth watching. Wes Anderson, director, was influenced by Ray, Satyajit and several other documentaries based on India for making the film.
It is nothing but a visual treat as it was mostly shot in Jodhpur, Rajasthan.

3. Million Dollar Arm
Produced by Disney and John Hamm, Million Dollar Arm came with a unique concept of Indian sports. The film was partly shot in the metropolis Mumbai.
It is a biographical sports drama which was based on Dinesh Patel and Rinku Singh, the baseball pitchers.
The screenplay of 2014 American sports drama was written by Tom McCarthy and director was Craig Gillespie.
Dinesh Patel and Rinku Singh were noticed by J.B. Bernstein, a sports agent, after winning a competition in reality show.
The film stars Bill Paxton (Tom House – a pitching coach), Jon Hamm (Bernstein), Madhur Mittal (Patel), Suraj Sharma (Singh) ,and Alan Arkin.
The music of the film was composed by legendary singer A R Rahman. The film was produced by Mark Ciardi, Joe Roth, and Gordon Gray and released by Walt Disney Pictures.
With the budget of $25 million, the film collected over $39.2 million.
4. The Bourne Supremacy
The world remained bewitched for such a long time with the legacy of Jason Bourne. The second part of spy film series was exclusively shot in the exotic locations of Goa and it was a great surprise for Indians.

5. Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol
We can never resist the epic spy chase sequence on the busiest lanes of Mumbai in the 4th part of cult Mission Impossible series.
Along with the stills of Mumbai lanes, the film also featured Anil Kapoor as Brij Nath as a cameo.
However, most of the interior scenes of the film were shot at Canadian Motion Picture Park, Vancouver, including fight scene between Hendricks and Ethan Hunt in a multi-level parking lot in Mumbai, and a transition scene in an IMF train car.
The climax scene with Anil Kapoor was shot in Bangalore’s Sun Network office. The opening scene of Hunt’s prison escape in Moscow was shot in a former prison located near Prague.
6. Octopussy
The relationship between Hollywood and India is nothing new. The 13th installment of the epic James Bond series, Octopussy was released in 1983 and shot in Udaipur.
The film also starred Indian actor, Kabir Bedi. The Kamal Khan palace exterior was shot in the Monsoon Palace and the scenes shot at the palace were filmed at Jag Mandir and Lake Palace.
The hotel of Bond was filmed at the Shiv Niwas Palace. Some of the main locations in England were RAF Upper Heyford, RAF Northolt, and RAF Oakley.
The scenes at the Karl Marx Stadt railwas were filmed at Nene Valley near Peterborough. While shooting in Indian land, Rogue Moore and most of the crew members had diet issues.
7. The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel
Dev Patel was appeared again in an iconic comic drama, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, after Slumdog Millionaire.
The film was shot mostly in Udaipur and Jaipur and the rest of Rajasthan. You can see what actually goes in the bustling markets of such Indian cities.
